This antibody targets Activated Leukocyte Cell Adhesion Molecule (ALCAM), also known as CD166. ALCAM is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily that mediates cell-cell adhesion through both homophilic (ALCAM-ALCAM) and heterophilic (ALCAM-CD6) interactions. It is expressed on a wide variety of cells, including activated leukocytes, neurons, and hematopoietic stem cells, and is involved in hematopoiesis, immune responses, and nervous system development.
Researchers can utilize this antibody for immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry to study cell adhesion, lymphocyte activation, stem cell biology, and tumor progression, as ALCAM expression is often dysregulated in cancer.
