Recombinant Human CD44
Synonyms: CDw44, Epican, Extracellular matrix receptor III, GP90 lymphocyte homing/adhesion receptor, HUTCH-I, Heparan sulfate proteoglycan, Hermes antigen, Hyaluronate receptor, Phagocytic glycoprotein 1
CD44 is a ubiquitously expressed cell surface glycoprotein that functions as the major receptor for hyaluronan. It plays crucial roles in cell-cell interactions, cell adhesion, and migration. CD44 participates in various cellular processes including T-lymphocyte activation, hematopoiesis, and tumor metastasis. The protein consists of an N-terminal hyaluronan-binding domain, a stem region, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic tail. CD44 interacts with the extracellular matrix and serves as a platform for growth factors and metalloproteinases. It is involved in signal transduction pathways promoting cell migration and adhesion. CD44 is expressed in many cell types and is implicated in cancer progression and inflammatory diseases.
