Recombinant Human CAMK1 Met1-Leu370
Synonyms: CaM kinase I, CaM-KI, CaMKI-alpha, Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type 1
Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase I (CAMK1) is a serine/threonine kinase that belongs to the CAMK Ser/Thr protein kinase family. It plays a key role in calcium-triggered signaling cascades, regulating transcription, cell cycle, hormone production, differentiation, and neurite outgrowth. CAMK1 is widely expressed, including in the adrenal cortex where it helps regulate aldosterone production. It is activated by calcium/calmodulin binding and phosphorylation by upstream kinases. CAMK1 phosphorylates various substrates to mediate calcium signaling in processes like synaptic plasticity and memory formation. This recombinant protein allows for studying CAMK1 structure, interactions, and functions in vitro.
