In non-muscle cells, alpha-actinin-1 is found along microfilament bundles and adherens junctions, where it crosslinks actin filaments and connects the cytoskeleton to the cell membrane. It interacts with various proteins including vinculin and integrins. Alpha-actinin-1 is widely expressed and implicated in platelet disorders and cancer metastasis. This recombinant protein corresponds to the N-terminal actin-binding domain, making it useful for studying actin interactions and cytoskeletal dynamics.
