Recombinant Human Acyl-coenzyme A thioesterase 13 Thr2-Asn140

Synonyms: Hotdog-fold thioesterase superfamily member 2, Palmitoyl-CoA hydrolase, Thioesterase superfamily member 2

Acyl-coenzyme A thioesterase 13 (ACOT13) is a member of the thioesterase PaaI family. This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of acyl-CoAs to free fatty acids and coenzyme A (CoASH), regulating intracellular levels of these molecules. ACOT13 shows activity towards medium and long-chain fatty acyl-CoA substrates. It is highly expressed in the kidney, with moderate expression in brain, liver and intestines. ACOT13 may play a role in controlling adaptive thermogenesis and regulating hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism. The protein forms a homotetramer and interacts with phosphatidylcholine transfer protein. ACOT13 is implicated in cellular proliferation events and may be associated with early onset intestinal cancer.
