This antibody specifically recognizes POU5F1 (OCT4), a transcription factor that binds to the octamer motif (5'-ATTTGCAT-3') and is critical for embryonic stem cell pluripotency. OCT4 forms a trimeric complex with SOX2 or SOX15 on DNA and regulates genes essential for embryonic development, including YES1, FGF4, and UTF1. It serves as a key marker of the undifferentiated state in embryonic stem cells and is one of the four Yamanaka factors used in induced pluripotent stem cell generation.
