Anti-Myoglobin Antibody

This antibody specifically targets human myoglobin, a 154-amino acid hemoprotein that functions primarily in oxygen storage and facilitation of oxygen diffusion within muscle tissues. Myoglobin reversibly binds oxygen through a pentacoordinated heme iron and enables efficient oxygen release during periods of heightened demand. Additionally, myoglobin exhibits nitrite reductase activity that regulates bioactive nitric oxide production and provides protection against reactive oxygen species through pseudoperoxidase activity under stress conditions such as hypoxia.

Optimized for immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry applications, this antibody enables reliable detection of myoglobin in skeletal and cardiac muscle samples.
