Anti-CD42b Antibody
Synonyms: GP-Ib alpha, Antigen CD42b-alpha
This antibody targets CD42b, also known as Glycoprotein Ib alpha chain (GP1BA). CD42b is the largest component of the platelet surface receptor complex GPIb-IX-V. This complex mediates the critical initial step of platelet adhesion to sites of vascular injury by binding to von Willebrand Factor (vWF) immobilized on exposed subendothelial collagen, particularly under conditions of high blood flow shear stress.
Validated for immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry applications, this antibody is essential for identifying platelets, studying platelet adhesion mechanisms, investigating primary hemostasis, and diagnosing bleeding disorders related to the GPIb-IX-V complex (e.g., Bernard-Soulier syndrome).
