Anti-Caspase-3 Antibody

This antibody targets Caspase-3, a key executioner of apoptosis. As a member of the caspase family of cysteine proteases, Caspase-3 exists as an inactive proenzyme (procaspase-3) in healthy cells. Upon receiving an apoptotic signal from initiator caspases (like -8 or -9), it is cleaved and activated. Activated Caspase-3 is responsible for the cleavage of a broad spectrum of cellular proteins, leading to the systematic dismantling of the cell and the characteristic morphological features of programmed cell death.

Researchers can utilize this antibody for immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry to detect apoptotic cells. It is one of the most widely used markers for apoptosis, allowing for the study of cell death pathways in development, tissue homeostasis, and disease.
