Anti-BAK Antibody
Synonyms: Bcl-2 homologous antagonist/killer, Bcl-2-like protein 7 (Bcl2-L-7)
This antibody targets BCL2 Antagonist/Killer 1 (BAK), a pro-apoptotic effector protein of the Bcl-2 family, primarily localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane. In response to apoptotic stimuli, BAK (often cooperatively with BAX) undergoes conformational changes and oligomerization, forming pores in the mitochondrial outer membrane. This leads to mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization (MOMP), release of cytochrome c and other pro-apoptotic factors into the cytosol, and activation of the caspase cascade.
Validated for immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry, this antibody enables the study of intrinsic apoptosis pathways, mitochondrial involvement in cell death, Bcl-2 family protein interactions, and mechanisms of chemosensitivity or resistance in cancer cells.
