Anti-Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Antibody
Synonyms: Alpha-1 protease inhibitor, Alpha-1-antiproteinase, Serpin A1
This antibody targets Alpha-1 Antitrypsin (AAT), encoded by the SERPINA1 gene. AAT is a crucial serine protease inhibitor (serpin) primarily synthesized in the liver and secreted into the bloodstream. Its main function is to inhibit neutrophil elastase in the lungs, protecting lung tissue from proteolytic damage. Deficiency can lead to emphysema and liver disease.
Validated for immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry, this antibody allows for the detection and study of AAT production, its role in protease regulation, lung homeostasis, liver function, and the pathogenesis of AAT deficiency-related disorders.
