Anti-ALDH2 Antibody
Synonyms: Aldehyde dehydrogenase, mitochondrial; ALDH-E2
This antibody targets Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 2 Family Member (ALDH2), the principal mitochondrial enzyme responsible for detoxifying acetaldehyde, the toxic intermediate produced during ethanol metabolism. ALDH2 oxidizes acetaldehyde to non-toxic acetate. It also metabolizes other endogenous and exogenous aldehydes. Genetic polymorphisms reducing ALDH2 activity are common, particularly in East Asian populations, leading to acetaldehyde accumulation and associated physiological reactions (e.g., facial flushing).
Validated for immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry, this antibody enables the study of alcohol metabolism pathways, aldehyde detoxification mechanisms, mitochondrial function, and the impact of ALDH2 genetic variants on health and disease susceptibility.
